About Laura Williamson
Laura Williamson enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities. She teaches traditional and recreational lessons from a professional studio located inside her home in Johnstown, PA.
After relocating to Pennsylvania in 2010, Laura quickly became a visible member of the Johnstown musical community. She taught on an adjunct basis at The University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown from 2012-2015, and performed several times on First Lutheran Church’s “Music at Noon” series as both soloist and accompanist. She also served on the board of the Johnstown Concert Series for several years. From 2014-2021, Laura taught recreational classes for adults at Piano For Pleasure, a studio she operated at Bottle Works, located in the historic Cambria City neighborhood of Johnstown. After being nominated by several Piano For Pleasure students, she received the Arts and Letters award at the 2017 YWCA Tribute to Women. In addition to her teaching, Laura sings alto in the Johnstown Symphony Chorus, and works for the Royal Conservatory of Music (Toronto) as a subject matter expert and piano examiner.
Nationally recognized as a progressive piano educator, Laura is in frequent demand as a consultant, adjudicator, guest speaker, and mentor. She has given presentations at national conferences throughout the United States, and at numerous state and local events. In Pennsylvania she has judged several regional and state piano competitions, and she has been the guest speaker at music teacher meetings throughout the state.
